Euro Trip Part Three

7/6 - Last day in Amsterdam
We spent most of the day recovering and watching the Wimbeldon final. After dinner we decided to play some pool and have a few.

7/7 Paris
Woke up earlier and jumped the train to Paris. Made it there about 3pm. My hotel is situated between the arc de triumph and the effiel tower. So I decided to walk to those two things.

7/8 Paris
It's cool and rainy. I read that the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays, I tried anyways and yes it is. Walked through the rain to Musee de Orsay. Explorered the impressionist paintings.

Left and headed to Jim Morrisons gave. There were all kinds of people looking for him. His grave is not exactly easy to find and it's very modest. I stumbled into a couple of so-cal coeds (Halley and Tracey) that needed help finding the grave. The good boyscout I am, I assisted them.

The three of us continued on to the Eiffel Tower. Even though I had just been there, I thought it was best to make sure the two of them made it there ok.

In our quest for food we came across the location of Diana's crash and memorial. Across the street we ate at a cafe, good times. The rains continue. I will attempt the Louvre again tomorrow and also Notre Dame.

July 4
Arrived in Amsterdam and met up with Scott. We explored the city and it's canals. The atmosphere is very laided back. It definately isn't as crazy is it's made out to be. We made our way to the red light district. Again not as crazy as expected. However you can not take pictures of the girls.

July 5
After a late night of drinking Scott and I decide to rent bikes and see a few of the sights. We visited the Rijks Museum which houses mainly Remembradts. We tried to go on the Henekin experience brewer tour, but it's closed for renovations. Also we went by the Van Gough museum, but the line was huge. We decided to try and visit Van Gough the next day. We continued on our bikes to Anne Franks house. Again a long line, but we waited it out with a few beers. Also it started rainy. In the end we made it in. Later we went a saw an American Comedy group called Boom Chicago, after that bars, to a casino (bad idea), bars, and McDonalds. Good times.

July 3
The temperature remains unseasonablly warm, over 90 degrees. This is something Berliners are not used too. My hotel does not have air conditioning, which is not to good. The metro here is on the honor system, which is different from any other city I've ever been to. I have decided, like most Berliners, to live without honor. Daylight lasts until about 10pm. Continued walking the city today and when through Karl Marx park. I also went to the observation deck of the TV tower and got a great view of Berlin. Off to Amsterdam.

I have never been to Berlin before. It's a very modern city. It situated around a large central park. My hotel is located in what was formerly East Berlin. I'm able to walk to most of the Sights.

I spent the afternoon and evening with Scott in Mainz. It's a college town along the Rhine. We had a bier along the Rhine and dinner. I would like to come back to this city.
